DEMOCRAT FOR VERMONT STATE SENATE
Chittenden County Southeast
Issues
Reproductive
Rights
I have always been unconditionally supportive of reproductive rights. Reproductive freedom is part of my daily work as a physician and it's something I've stood behind for my entire career—in practice and on the streets.
I regularly refer patients to Planned Parenthood Northern New England in Burlington. Since starting my residency in Vermont in 2005, I've prescribed contraception and counseled patients on cancer screenings, emergency contraception, and sexual and reproductive health and well being. I sustain gender affirming care for patients when indicated.
Through the Vermont Medical Society, I've supported all laws related to reproductive rights such as Vermont's Shield Law and S.28, which protects reproductive and gender-affirming care as well as the Reproductive Liberty Amendment, which safeguards personal reproductive autonomy—including decisions about abortion, birth control, and pregnancy. I also support Proposition 4 which guarantees to all Vermonters equal protection under the law and will appear on the ballot in the general election on November 3, 2026. I am seeking an endorsement from Planned Parenthood Northern New England and have completed Emily's List candidate training.
I am firmly pro-choice, and I believe deeply in reproductive freedom and justice for all Vermonters. Access to comprehensive reproductive health care, including contraception and abortion, is fundamental to personal autonomy, health equity, and women's rights. As a legislator, I will firmly support policy that protects these rights and keeps health-care decisions where they belong: between a patient and their doctor, free from political interference.
